Everyone's a Story

Hello hello hello. First thing's first...loser award goes to ME! I told you in my last post that Id post some fashion but I never did cause let's be real here, I SUCK. But have no fear, I have some pics of outfits down below that I literally took like 20 minutes ago. I am extremely sorry that my hair is in a ponytail...a hip hip and a hooray for 3rd day hair. PLUS I woke up sicker than a dog today so I at least have an excuse to look ugly.

My thoughts/ post today is on the fact that everyone is a story. And I know you probably hear all the time, "thou shalt not judge." ;) But I am trying to shine a new light on the subject.

So there's this girl. She is absolutely beautiful. I mean...we're talkin model gorgeous. She also has the best wardrobe on this planet...absolutely hilarious...a ball to hang with...gets all the guys...instafamous....materialistically picture perfect, right? Right.

Until about a week ago, I didnt know her that well. We've hung out a few times, shared a few laughs and small conversation. I had heard from other people that she was "fake" and bratty and not very righteous and so on. So I instantly took note of that and stuck it to my "judgements & assumptions of ______" (SHAME ON ME)

It is human nature to accept the bad things you hear about people easier than the good things. And that's what I did!

But then I heard her story.

And I was so touched and also ashamed of how quick I had been to accept what I had heard.

She talked and I listened. And I realized her life is far from perfect and she faces challenges beyond my imagination, every day.

I had the absolute pleasure of discovering what an honestly beautiful person she is, who leads quite a crazy life and I dont blame her one bit for all of the decisions she has made and the circumstances she is in.

Anywhooooo, just something to think about :) Everyone is a story. Get to know somebody before you accept other's opinions of them.

Quit searching & begin living

Good afternoon beautiful people :)

I cannot even believe what a half-baked job I did on my last blog post. That is why I deleted it lol. I took horrible quality pictures and screwed up on a lot of other little things but ANYWHO, the show must go on.

I will be posting later today and it will be a MEGA clothes post since I have been horrible about putting up outfits each week.

Umm Im going homecoming dress shopping today? HUZZAH.

AJ Coombs asked me.

Also. Life has really caught my attention in a whole new light lately...

I am so determined to begin living life and botching the whole idea of finding love.

Some may never admit they are searching for love but most of us are.

Well I quit! I mean, Im too young for love anyway, right?

I wanna do things Ive always wanted to do! Sort of like a bucket list but more realistic, ya feel me?

My excitement is reaching dangerous limits.

Wish me luck!

Love you all <3

And I swear I will do a much better job on my posts and the pictures etc.

Also. Utah has had some heavenly sunsets lately, am I right?

Alright Im done. See you later alligator.

Makeup&Thriftiness

Alright so first off is make up. I LOVE MAKE UP. Here is a quote about make up that I also love: "Treat your make up like jewelry for the face. Play with colors, shapes, structure -- it can transform you." Now lemme just say that Im not about the "truckload of makeup" life. But I do think you should have fun with make up and the things that it can do :)

This is my everyday make up routine. It takes me like 10 minutes. On your marks, get set, go:

#1: APPLY AN EYESHADOW PRIMER! This seems stupid to some of you reading this, I can tell. But it is actually really important and without it, you're eyeshadow's gonna look like garbage by the end of the day. Urban Decay is what I use. AND THEN, I apply "Golden" by NYX all over my lid as seen in box one.

Obviously I use that baby ^^ all the time. NYX single eyeshadow's are $4 at Pearless Beauty Supply. I have like 5, ladies. Do yourself a favor and go buy some.

#2: Apply a thin line of black, liquid liner. This will thicken up the lashes :)
I use THE SUPER SLIM 12 hour wear liquid liner by Maybelline. Its a dream come true ~$7 at walm art.

#3: MASCARA. Ok so you know the end of the wand always has a huge clump of wet mascara and its kind of a big nuisance? Not anymore. I use the end of the wand right along the lash line and lemme tell ya, it does wonders in thickening up your set of flirt wings. Try it :) I use Monster Lash by Femme Couture. I love it. I get it for $7 bucks at Sally's Beauty Supply.

#4: Finish applying mascara using the wand the traditional way, starting from the lash line and wiggling your way up. (I have naturally curly lashes so I don't curl mine) if you have straight lashes then I say curl em for sure, it will play up your face big time :)

#5: Apply the "Golden" eyeshadow along your bottom lid. This gives your a subtle smoky effect! HAWT.

#6: Apply a thin line of liquid liner and apply mascara to the bottom lashes.

#7: Highlight the tear duct. Some girls are like, "what the heck is that?" WELL. Its the inner corner of your eye, where the tears come from...and that is the deepest part of your eye THEREFORE there is more shadow there. So brighten up your eye with a bright shimmery whatever you want :)
I use "White Pearl" by NYX.

#8: Apply that same highlighter right underneath your eyebrow.

#9: YOU'RE DONE! HIP HIP HOORAY.

Now for the skin :)

PRIME YOUR BEAUTIFUL SKIN. Same concept with the eyeshadow, if you use a skin primer, your make up will look fierce and flawless all day long. This is what I use. Unfortunately, the name of it is "Super Orgasm" like I don't think that can be any more awkward and disgusting but whatever, that's what they named it so I guess life must go on. Its by Nars obviously :) And its ridiculously beautiful. I got this for like $40 dollars..OUCH...at Sephora. Sometimes I just buy sick make up for a bundle load of bucks but its ok, I don't spend my money on practically anything else.

Foundation.

I am all about that 'natural' skin look. So that's why I wear Bare Minerals. (yikes I sound like a freaking commercial right now) But really, I am kind of religious about Bare Minerals skin products. They are truly glorious. Anywho, this is my shade and how it looks on my skin.

And now. Bronzer.

Most girls are SO prejudice against bronzer and its probably because some girls like to pile on the orange stuff and then bronzer is instantly categorized as gross. IT CAN BE BEAUTIFUL. I use XL bronzer by Milani. I bought it at smith's for like..10 bucks and it lasts forever. Its also a really pressed powder so it never looks cakey. I like to make a fishy face and then blend the powder going upwards where you can see the cheek bone. I also apply a little to the top of my forehead and a little on my nose. This honestly gives such a natural-looking, sun-kissed glow :)

AND FINALLY...lips *smooch smooch*

I like my lips to look natural so I just use a nude lip cream by NYX. It was like 6 dollars and its my baby.

Finally for the finished look:
This pic is weird cause its a close-up but I just wanted you to get a good look.

Hope you enjoyed this & hope it helped :)

NOW FOR SOME THRIFTY FASHION!
(I cant believe how long this post is..)

SO. I love thrift shopping. Its cheap and fun. MY TWO FAVORITE THINGS! Just kidding ;) Well sort of.

Anyway, my sister and I went to Savers the other days and came home with some yummies.

XL Men's Plaid shirt: $7
High-waisted denim shorts: $5
Yellow Butterfly T: $5

He celebrates me

Wait are you kidding me, its 2:15 am? Holy...jk. I stay up till at least 3 every night. Bad idea.

But anyway, I cant sleep...so I thought Id write. About the one person who knows me best. He knows my face without a trace of make up. He knows exactly what is required to make me double over in laughter. He knows my silly fears and insecurities. He knows my dreams, of course, too. He knows that I can be ridiculously lazy. He knows that I can be annoying, immature, dramatic etc. And he knows every straight up stupid decision I have ever made in my life. He knew me as a child and he knows me still.

And he is one of few people in this world that  really knows how to make me feel beautiful.

Those are only a few of the millions of things he knows about me. I am a complex person, just like anyone else. But he has loved me enough to discover every tiny detail about me. And he has loved me enough to accept all of it. Heck, even embrace and celebrate all of it. There arent many things that can be found as great as the joy in feeling loved unconditionally for everything that you are.

Going to sleep grateful as ever for my brother, Connor.

Goodnight. Xoxo

One-liners

For some odd reason I thought Id write some mysterious one-liners about random people in my life that have made some sort of impact on me :) I think, if I remember correctly, my brother did something similar in his blog.

So here goes. Get ready for your inner curious kitty to come out...cause these are gonna be juicy.

* A rose within a stone, I hope you learn to let me in someday.

* I may have let you go but those green apple memories hang on to me for dear life.

* A heart that looks for beauty, eyes that see it, a camera that captures it.

* You have a song for a soul.

* Lived your life to someday save mine.

* A kiss that woke me from my twelve month misery.

* Listened and lead me out of the wood.

* I stand on an ocean of complete love.

* It was like breathing in the sun wrapped in rain.

* I pray the wheels never stop turning.

* The weight of the world on your tattooed shoulders.

Alright Im done :) Hope you enjoyed those! They were fun to come up with. I love to write songs about people as well. I love people. Period.

Happy 2nd of sweet, sweet July.

My Daddy

One of my favorite things in the whole wide world is Sunday cooking in the kitchen with my family. Especially when its Fathers Day. Because we make really really good food for my hungry daddy. This post goes out to Derek Omar. I love this man so much. My dad is an incredible father but more importantly, he is an incredible friend. He is one of the few people in this big world that can actually talk some sense into my head. He is an incredible photographer, actor, grill king, mr. fix it man....you name it. And he has such a ridiculously fun personality that it really doesn't matter what we do. Whether its two tall glasses of orange juice, a bag of sour patch and a scary movie, a hunt for toads and jackrabbits, together, my dad and I seem to make everything an adventure.

Reminiscing on good memories:

The night before my open heart surgery we went to the grocery store and loaded up on good food that we were supposedly gonna eat the rest of the week. (pickles, yogurt) Weird junk that my dad and I have fetish's for. Oh and we acted like complete hooligans because it was late and we were in a grocery store and we were buying food.......you're realizing what an acceptable explanation that is.
The nights following my heart surgery he spent sleeping by my side. And in the morning he spoon-fed me double chocolate brownie ice cream.

Have you gotten a taste of the goodness of this man?

Anyway, the Christmas after my surgery was one to remember. I wrote on the top of my wish list, 'a parrot.' When my dad saw that I had put this on my list he jumped on KSL and immediately started looking. SCORE. I was so sure I was getting one until he came to me about a week before Christmas and said, "Hey nat, Im sorry but the lady who had a few baby senegals actually just sold them. But maybe we can try and get one in a few months." You can imagine the 'darn it' expression on my face. CHRISTMAS WAS RUINED. Just kidding. I was definitely disappointed though.

Skippin to the good stuff ~ Christmas eve we were opening presents (yes we open our presents on the eve of Christmas, get over it) I was tearing open a present only to find....a parrot toy....could it be?? Am I dreaming? I looked at my dad and he said, "Come with me." He brought me outside to a big parrot cage and told me that he'd gotten everything ready ahead of time but he still hadn't been able to get a bird.

It was a bittersweet situation, folks. After hugging and thanking him, I returned to my designated 'present opening spot' and my dad, for some odd reason, walked out of the room.

My dad eventually returned.

With a Senegal parrot on his shoulder.

I bawled my eyes out.

Oh and its on tape if anyone wants to see it.

As you can see, my dad is such a special man. Future husband: you've got some big shoes to fill, buddy.

But he recently did something for me that I will also never forget.

About 50 years ago, an Elm Street could be found in almost every town in the Eastern United States. Big, beautiful, American Elm trees used grow all over the place, strong and hardy and could withstand temperatures as low as -42 degrees Celsius.

But during the 60's and 70's 'the Dutch Elm disease' came in and nearly wiped the beautiful species out. My dad and I wanted to take part in the 'Return of the Elm'. So, together, we planted one in our backyard.

He dedicated the tree to me. Symbolic of many things.

I can stand on our deck and watch the sun set behind that beautiful Elm tree and it really does give me a whole lot of strength and hope.

But more importantly it reminds me how much my dad truly loves me with all of his big, big heart.

Love you daddy.

Nights like these

Mmm. Thats what tonight was like. Just mmm.

It started out with a trip to Ridleys for some junk food. My sister, my little brother and I sat on the floor in the candy isle with a lifetime supply of junk spread out all over the place. (So we could carefully make our decisions) We left the store with 5 different kinds of sour gummy deliciousness, warheads, licorice, Charleston chews, pringles (those are a must) a few Sobe's, the whole shabang. Such a sinfully satisfying, rewarding trip to the grocery store. I AM A FAN OF JUNK FOOD.

We came home, sorted out the candy (yes we opened each bag and made sure everyone received the same amount of each color etc.) Candy is serious business to my siblings and I. After that, we enjoyed our yummies and went our separate ways.

Just so I dont bore anyone, Ill skip all the useless details and get right to the good stuff;

I sat in a big, beautiful tree in a field with someone I care very much about. It was peaceful. A warm wind blew. And fireflies could be seen in the distance. We talked in the most vulnerable yet freeing way. About our lives. Our hopes and dreams, fears, mistakes, regrets. Everything. We laughed a lot. And sometimes we would drift into silence. The comfortable silence that ironically seems to shout the goodness of the moment.

Man. Nights like these are just...mmm.

I think life truly begins when you start to appreciate and savor the moments and the memories. Instead of just existing, try to live the truly good life you've been given.

Two worlds

I live in two worlds. And before you go assuming that Im flat-out crazy, just hear me out. When I wake up in the morning and the sunshine spills through my window and my heart literally beats with excitement because a new day awaits to be spent...that is what I call, "my first world".

The second world comes around when 11:00 pm hits. My night owl habits keep me awake until at least 3. And that world is the one that I get all soul searchy in. When the house is quiet and Im left to battle with my thoughts. My reality hits me hard. I think about all my problems and the trials that I am going through and past mistakes that I have made.

But when I put my two worlds side by side, I am simply grateful. Grateful for the my morning world that blesses me with excitement and the will to live. And grateful for my night world that allows me to really think about where I am and who I want to be.

Just as I am grateful for sorrow and joy. Sorrow; that allows us to grow and be strengthened. And joy; that allows us to just feel the truly wonderful lives we live.

Look at how excited this turtle is to live its life?

My sister loves turtles and I love my sister so I had to post this.

Cheers to good people

Cheers to good people who made me want to start blogging.
Good people are generally hard to find. And it's because few will take the time to find the good in people. There is good in everyone. It is easy to spot the bad in people but it is just as easy to find the good! I seriously challenge you to take someone that you already have sour feelings towards and find the good in them. I promise, you will find it. And you will feel a sense of freedom. Hate is easy but to love someone actually takes courage.

There are two people in specific that I would like to mention in this post because they are the ones who really gave me the confidence to start a blog. (Hopefully they wont be too embarrassed) Neisha Johnson. Holy heck, first of all...this chick has some mad photography skills. Check out her instagram, please. Her work is incredible. Secondly, she is, hands down, one of the kindest most down to earth people you will ever meet. Anyway, yesterday over twitter she told me I should start a blog on love and life. And that is what I'm doing folks :) But I was touched by what she said because I think it means a whole lot to anyone to have someone be genuinely interested in your life and what you have to say. I am a fan of Neisha Johnson.

The second person is Adam Mayne. Anyone who knows him, knows that he has one of the sweetest dispositions you will ever come across. We recently started talking more and oh my goodness gracious, he is, right off the bat, one trustworthy dude. Really though. I think everyone knows a few gems that you can just tell anything to. Even if you haven't known each other for very long! Anyway, I was touched as well by the way he, so beautifully, lightened my load by allowing me to open up to him.

Both of these people have big, big hearts. I advise befriending them. Now.

That's me. I had dandelion hair.
